STARCHITECT

Brief

Select a 'starchitect' from the list provided, researching their style and personality. Create an A3 poster using suitable coloring mediums, based on the initial A4-sized drawing. Enhance freehand skills by combining self-expression, object drawing, architectural lettering, tonal values, rendering, and coloring techniques.

Task

I chose 'Antoni Gaudi' as my starchitect. I delved into his background, studying his architectural style, notable buildings, biography, interesting facts, and famous quotes. After this research, I outlined the poster composition. I started with an A4 sketch before creating the final version, using colored pencils and watercolors to enhance vibrancy and depth, aiming for a captivating visual presentation.

REFLECTION

For the poster task, I crafted a visual tribute to a renowned architect, blending typography, imagery, and a concise bio. Starting with an A4 sketch, I highlighted key elements: the architect's name, a portrait, three signature buildings, and a short bio. Transitioning to an A3 final version, I carefully applied a fitting color palette to capture the architect's essence. This project honed my design sensibilities and showcased my ability to convey complex information visually.

Throughout, I discovered architects I didn’t know and enhanced my drawing and coloring skills. This assignment significantly improved my abilities in expressing ideas through visual media.
